The Last Emergency Committee's Woo Sang-ho: "'Term Coincidence Law' Alternative Proposed but Not Revised... Will Take Legal Action"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Democratic Party of Korea plans to file a complaint against the Board of Audit and Inspection, which is conducting a special audit targeting Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. The conflict between the ruling and opposition parties over the status of personnel appointed by the previous administration is expected to intensify.
Woo Sang-ho, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party, said at the Emergency Committee meeting held at the National Assembly on the 26th, "Pressure is being applied to many people, including Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee and Chairman Han Sang-hyuk of the Korea Communications Commission, to terminate the terms of fixed-term public officials," adding, "During a prior meeting, the emergency committee members agreed that we should file a complaint against the Board of Audit and Inspection regarding the unfair pressure on Chairperson Jeon." He continued, "On the other hand, how long will they continue this double standard of investigating and causing suffering over personnel from the previous administration while simultaneously pressuring those appointed by the previous administration to step down?"
Currently, the ruling party is urging Chairperson Jeon and Chairman Han to resign. Chairperson Jeon recently revealed via social media that "finally, even computer forensic investigations by the Board of Audit and Inspection have been deployed. They seem determined to find even a speck of dust," and stated that "the work of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has been paralyzed."
