[Featured Stock] YG Entertainment Surges Over 5% as BLACKPINK Music Video Hits 100 Million Views
[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] YG Entertainment is showing strong performance in the market on the morning of the 22nd. This is attributed to the success of the new music video by BLACKPINK, an artist under the company, which reached 100 million views in a short period.
As of 10:09 AM on the same day, YG Entertainment is trading at 61,300 KRW, up 5.15% (3,000 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
This is interpreted as the effect of the successful comeback of BLACKPINK after about 1 year and 10 months. The music video for BLACKPINK's new song "Pink Venom," pre-released on the 19th, surpassed 100 million views within 29 hours of release, becoming the fastest K-pop girl group music video to reach 100 million views. The new song also became the first K-pop female artist track to reach number one on the US Spotify 'Global Top 50' chart.

Researcher Hyein Lee from Yuanta Securities stated, "BLACKPINK's indicators overall suggest that their loyal overseas fandom has grown to a level comparable to top international artists such as BTS, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift." She added, "BLACKPINK is scheduled to start a world tour attracting an audience of about 1.5 million from October, and since a world tour itself acts as a promotional tool for artists, fandom growth is also expected in 2023."
