"Sorry, Unni"... Nelly Korda's 7-Stroke Comeback Victory Over Jessica
First Victory of the Year at LET Aramco Team Series Round 3
World No. 3 in women's golf, Nelly Korda, secured her first win of the year with a remarkable 7-stroke comeback against her sister Jessica Korda (both from the United States).
On the 20th (local time), Nelly Korda shot a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Ladies European Tour (LET) Aramco Team Series Round 3 (total prize money $500,000, approximately 668 million KRW) held at La Reserva Club (par 72, 6,291 yards) in Cadiz, Spain. With a final total of 13-under 203, Nelly Korda finished 3 strokes ahead of the tied second-place players to claim the top spot.
Nelly Korda, who had not won a single event on the LPGA Tour this year, signaled a perfect comeback with this victory. Her last LPGA Tour win was at the Pelican Championship in November last year.
This is also Nelly Korda's first LET victory in three years since the Lacoste Ladies Open in September 2019. Securing her second LET title overall, Nelly Korda earned a winner's prize of $75,000 (approximately 100 million KRW).
What drew attention was that Nelly Korda staged a dramatic comeback on the final day despite being 7 strokes behind the leader, who happened to be her sister Jessica Korda.
Jessica Korda led by 6 strokes over second place after two rounds. Nelly Korda, who was in third place after two rounds, was 7 strokes behind her sister. However, on the final day, while Jessica lost 5 strokes, Nelly reduced her score by 5 strokes, reversing their positions.
Jessica Korda finished tied for second place with Ana Trivi?o (Spain) and Pauline Roussin (France) at 10-under 206.
