National Gwangju Science Museum, 31st Phil Science Lecture Linked to Special Plastic Exhibition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the 31st Phil Science Lecture titled "Plastic and the Anthropocene" at 2 p.m. on the 21st in the Science Museum Imagination Hall.
This lecture will invite Choi Pyeong-soon, an EBS PD who won the Presidential Award at the 2020 Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards, to explore the meaning of the new geological epoch created by humans, the "Anthropocene," and focus on the environmental issues caused by plastic, discussing what this era will leave behind.
Additionally, before the lecture, the documentary
PD Choi Pyeong-soon is an environmental and ecology specialist PD who began her career as a short film director focusing on plastic.
Her representative works include ▲The Only Earth ▲This Is the Wild ▲Long-armed Human ▲Anthropocene, and she is currently working as a researcher at the KAIST Anthropocene Research Center while producing a five-part documentary series titled "The Sixth Mass Extinction."
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director, stated, "This lecture will help the current generation understand the need to practice environmental protection as members of the Earth," and added, "We also hope many will visit the special exhibition 'The Two Faces of Plastic,' which is being held during the summer vacation."
This lecture is limited to the first 150 people who make a reservation in advance through the National Gwangju Science Museum website online reservation system, and anyone from children to adults can participate for free.
Meanwhile, the National Gwangju Science Museum is hosting a special exhibition titled "The Two Faces of Plastic" until the 28th of this month, where visitors can explore the dual nature of plastic, which has become essential in daily life but also a major cause of environmental pollution, through various experiences.
