According to the Gwangyang Police Station in Jeonnam on the 4th, a father and son who were swept away by a rapid current and took refuge on a delta at Eochi Valley in Jinsang-myeon, Gwangyang-si, were rescued around 3 p.m. on the 2nd.
On that day, police officers from the Jinsang Police Substation, who received a report that "a person fell into the valley and is being swept away," immediately entered the water using life rings and ropes to carry out rescue operations.
Subsequently, the rescue operation was continued jointly with the 119 ambulance team that arrived later, and the father and son were safely rescued.
At the scene, Lieutenant Shin Jongho said, "It was a tense situation where a tragic accident could have occurred," and added, "Fortunately, the prompt rescue operation prevented major damage."
