Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Listens to Public Voices on Digital Innovation in Culture, Sports, and Tourism
Public Survey Until the 11th, Results Reflected in the Basic Plan
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is directly listening to the voices of the public regarding the Basic Plan for Cultural Digital Innovation.
On the 2nd, the Ministry announced that from the 2nd to the 11th, it will collect public opinions on digital innovation policies related to culture, sports, and tourism through the online policy participation platform "Gukmin Saenggakham" operated by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Ministry is establishing the "Basic Plan for Cultural Digital Innovation (2023?2027)" covering all areas of work including culture, sports, and tourism to spread the possibilities and value of digital technology.
This nationwide survey plans to investigate △ the level of experience with digital services in the cultural sector △ digital utilization maturity △ preferences for future digital innovation tasks △ ideas for digital innovation projects. Additionally, 100 participants will be selected by lottery to receive small prizes.
With the COVID-19 pandemic accelerating the integration of digital technology into existing society, economy, and education to lead new growth and innovation, the Ministry is promoting cultural digital innovation across various fields.
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s AI cultural interpretation robot "Q.I." served as an exhibition guide at the "Lee Kun-hee Collection Special Exhibition," introducing artworks by artists such as Kim Ki-chang, Park Soo-keun, and Lee Jung-seop in the voice of actor Yoo Hae-jin. Notably, it provided over 244 non-face-to-face interpretations daily, greatly contributing to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
The National Museum of Korea built the metaverse museum "Healing Hill" and offered two national treasure statues of the Bodhisattva in the metaverse content, receiving great responses from foreigners and the younger generation familiar with online communication. Currently, "Healing Hill" has accumulated over 10 million visitors.
The "Gwanghwa Mural," which transformed the exterior wall of the Museum of Korean Contemporary History into a giant media canvas, expresses magnificent nature and cultural art works through three-dimensional videos, comforting and providing rest to citizens weary from daily life.

A Ministry official stated, "Digital technology is an important tool that drives innovation and future growth across all cultural fields," adding, "We hope the 'Basic Plan for Cultural Digital Innovation,' preparing for the future, will be completed with the active participation of not only cultural workers but also the public."
