Omiseop, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes 'Seo-gu Type Integrated Welfare Support Center'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Oh Mi-seop, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, proposed the operation of the 'Seo-gu Type Integrated Welfare Support Center,' a welfare control tower.
On the 1st, at the 2nd plenary session of the 305th Seo-gu Council extraordinary meeting, Councilor Oh suggested through a 5-minute speech that a one-stop service system should be established to solve various issues such as care, housing, and stability.
Councilor Oh emphasized, "Anyone should be able to easily and conveniently receive welfare services with just one phone call," and added, "The inconvenience of having to visit each district office department according to the type of service must also be eliminated."
He explained the reason for the proposal, saying, "The utilization rate of the integrated information desk in the jurisdictional neighborhood is low, and there is a lack of welfare counseling desks in private institutions such as comprehensive social welfare centers, resulting in welfare blind spots."
He also mentioned, "When there is an urgent request for welfare services, it is difficult to share information between private institutions and neighborhoods, and delays in contact occur when the person in charge is absent, making it hard to grasp the welfare service information of the demanders," stating that it is a situation where providing prompt customized services is challenging.
It was also explained that the welfare-related departments of Seo-gu Office have specialized and dispersed welfare information and service tasks by department, which hinders such 'promptness.'
Therefore, he suggested, "We must integrate fragmented welfare information and establish a care integrated desk that combines health, medical, and welfare services to realize community care."
Furthermore, he said, "A dense public-private network for resource linkage by 18 neighborhoods or base points should be established, and social contribution through talent donation and mutual cooperation organizations should be revitalized."
He emphasized the need to promote dedicated projects to expand the demand for services for vulnerable groups and minimize welfare blind spots.
