'Munjeon Underpass' Connecting Jeonpodong and Munhyeondong in Busan to Open on the 1st of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] The Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that the 'Munjeon Underpass' congestion road improvement project, connecting Jeonpo-dong in Busanjin-gu and Munhyeon-dong in Nam-gu, Busan, will be completed on the 29th and opened at 11 a.m. on the 1st of next month.
The Munjeon Underpass is a project to elevate the Munjeon Intersection, with a length of 436 meters and a total project cost of 28.2 billion KRW. Through the opening of this underpass, vehicle waiting times at the Munjeon Intersection are expected to be significantly reduced, easing congestion around the intersection area and increasing vehicle travel speeds. Busan City anticipates that the average waiting time during rush hours will decrease by 45%, from 113.9 seconds to 62.8 seconds.
This project requires less construction cost and a shorter construction period compared to general road construction projects, allowing for efficient use of finances and rapid realization of congestion relief effects.
