Sinan-gun Cancels '2022 Island Mino Festival'
Cancellation Decision to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Community Transmission
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, has decided to cancel the '2022 Island Croaker Festival' scheduled to be held this month in consideration of the recent spread of COVID-19.
Sinan-gun planned to hold the 15th '2022 Island Croaker Festival' from the 29th to the 30th on Imjado Island, known for its tulips and red plum blossoms, to promote croaker, a representative summer health seafood produced in the clean waters, both domestically and internationally.
However, due to the rapid increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases amid the resurgence, the decision was made to cancel the croaker festival to prevent the spread of community infection.
Park Woo-ryang, the mayor of Sinan-gun, said, "It is very regrettable to cancel the festival that was scheduled to be held for the first time in three years since 2019 following the lifting of social distancing," and added, "We will prepare more thoroughly next year to make it up to everyone."
