Chong Kun Dang Launches 'Benpobel S' with Enhanced Ingredients for Peripheral Neuropathy and Liver Function Improvement
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Chong Kun Dang announced on the 26th that it has launched 'Benfobel S,' a high-dose active vitamin containing the country's first peripheral neuropathy treatment ingredient mecobalamin and 60 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), an ingredient for improving liver function, simultaneously.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety revised the standard manufacturing guidelines for pharmaceuticals last year to add new ingredients used in over-the-counter drugs and to increase the maximum daily dosage. The newly launched Benfobel S reflects these revisions by strengthening the vitamin B complex compared to existing products and adding ingredients effective for physical fatigue and liver function improvement.
Benfobel S contains an additional 500 μg of mecobalamin, which was previously prescribed as a prescription drug to regenerate damaged nerve cells and treat peripheral neuropathy. It also contains 100 mg of active vitamin benfotiamine and 30 mg of bisbenthiamine, which crosses the blood-brain barrier to aid brain energy metabolism. The content of ursodeoxycholic acid, known to promote bile secretion and protect liver cells, is increased to the maximum 60 mg according to the vitamin standard manufacturing guidelines. It also includes taurine, methionine, and ortho acid to help recover from physical fatigue caused by decreased liver function.

A Chong Kun Dang official stated, “Benfobel S is a product that supplements vitamin B complex, which is easily deficient in modern people due to stress, drinking, smoking, and nutritional imbalance, as well as ingredients that help strengthen liver function, all in one tablet per day.” He added, “By enhancing the ingredients and their amounts to maximize fatigue recovery effects, we expect Benfobel S to receive a positive response in the continuously growing high-dose active vitamin market.”
