President Yoon's Approval Rating Continues to Decline... Positive Rating at 30.4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A public opinion poll showed that the Moon Jae-in administration is viewed more favorably than the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his governance has fallen again, dropping to the low 30% range.
According to a poll conducted by Media Tomato on behalf of News Tomato (from the 19th to the 20th, targeting 1,022 men and women nationwide aged 18 and over, using wireless ARS method), when asked which administration they would rate higher between the Yoon Seok-yeol and Moon Jae-in administrations, 57.8% of respondents said the Moon Jae-in administration was better. Those who favored the Yoon Seok-yeol administration accounted for 32.8%, and 9.4% were unsure.
President Yoon's approval rating for his governance declined compared to the same survey last week. Positive opinions that President Yoon is doing well in governance stood at 30.4% (20.3% "doing well," 10.1% "somewhat doing well"), while negative opinions were 67.2% (7.3% "somewhat doing poorly," 59.9% "doing poorly").
In the previous week's poll, positive opinions were 32.6% (20.9% "doing well," 11.7% "somewhat doing well"), and negative opinions were 64.7% (9.1% "somewhat doing poorly," 55.6% "doing poorly"). Positive opinions dropped by 2.2 percentage points over one week, while negative opinions increased by 2.5 percentage points.
Regarding party approval ratings, 49.5% expressed favorability toward the Democratic Party of Korea, while 32.4% favored the People Power Party. The Democratic Party's approval rating rose by 4.1 percentage points over the week, whereas the People Power Party's rating fell by 3.2 percentage points.
