Strengthening On-Site Expertise and Command Authority, Fair and Integrity-Driven Maritime Police
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] The Jeonnam Yeosu Maritime Police Station announced on the 21st that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 26th Chief Park Je-su (朴濟守, 58 years old) and officially began its duties.
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, the inauguration ceremony was held around 5 p.m. in the police station's main conference room, with a small number of staff attending while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
Chief Park, appointed as the 26th Chief of Yeosu Maritime Police Station, is originally from Wando, Jeonnam. He joined as a maritime police officer in 1986 and has held key positions including Head of Maritime Safety at Mokpo Station, Head of Intelligence at Yeosu Station, Inspector and Auditor at Namhae Regional Headquarters, Head of Rescue and Safety at Seohae Regional Headquarters, Head of Education and Training at the Korea Maritime Police Academy, Chief of Wando Maritime Police Station, and Head of Security and Safety at Jeju Regional Headquarters.
In his inaugural speech, Chief Park emphasized the need to ▲ enhance on-site expertise and strengthen on-site command authority for thorough situation management ▲ establish a fair and transparent maritime police force trusted by the public ▲ become a maritime police force that changes according to the public’s expectations by spreading gender sensitivity and awareness of gender equality.
He also stated, “Let us create an organizational culture of communication and harmony based on a culture of sharing the same goals and mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, the former Chief Ha Man-sik concluded his farewell ceremony by visiting each office at 9 a.m. on the same day and has moved to the position of Foreign Affairs Division Chief at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters.
