[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory announced on the 20th that "Regarding the social disaster-type livestock infectious diseases 'Classical Swine Fever (CSF)' and 'Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)', the antibody positivity rates from the first half vaccine survey showed 97.43% for CSF, 98% for cattle FMD, and 89% for swine FMD."
According to the laboratory, in the first half of this year, tests were conducted on 3,695 pigs for CSF and 13,450 animals for FMD from livestock farms and slaughterhouses in Gangwon Province. The antibody positivity rate for CSF increased compared to the previous year, while that for FMD was analyzed to be somewhat lower.
The antibody positivity rate for CSF was higher at 97.43% as of June this year compared to 96.76% last year.
On the other hand, the antibody positivity rate for FMD in cattle dropped from 98.3% last year to 98.0% as of June this year, and in pigs, it decreased from 91.3% last year to 88.8% this year.
The laboratory plans to increase antibody positivity rates in the second half of the year through antibody positivity inspections, cause investigations and additional tests for farms with low antibody positivity rates, and guidance and education on vaccine administration.
