Especially riding the wave of the ‘Healthy Pleasure’ trend spreading mainly among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), low-calorie carbonated drinks are becoming the mainstream.
According to Homeplus on the 20th, during the recent month when the heatwave and monsoon season officially began (June 11 to July 10), total carbonated drink sales increased by 21% compared to the same period last year.
In particular, the remarkable growth of Homeplus’s premium private brand carbonated drinks, Homeplus Signature, stood out. Sales during the same period surged by a whopping 147% compared to the previous year. This was mainly due to offering zero-calorie carbonated drinks such as Homeplus Signature Zero Cola and Homeplus Signature Zero Cider, which are sugar-free and calorie-reduced, at reasonable prices targeting the Healthy Pleasure consumers.
Additionally, probiotic fermented tea Tizen Kombucha Lemon, popular among summer diet enthusiasts, saw sales rise by 62% during the same period, and steady sellers like Coca-Cola and Lotte Chilsung Cider continued to maintain their popularity.
With the full-fledged summer vacation season underway, the number of people seeking non-alcoholic and alcohol-free beers has also significantly increased. Non-alcoholic Hite Zero, non-alcoholic Cass Zero, and non-alcoholic Kloud Clear Zero beers saw sales rise by 38% compared to the same period last year.
Riding this momentum, Homeplus will hold various carbonated drink promotions from the 21st to the 27th. Key products such as ‘Sprite Zero 1.5ℓ’ and ‘Pepsi Cola 1.25ℓ’ will be sold as 1+1 for 2,690 won, while ‘Homeplus Signature Zero Cola 1.5ℓ’ and ‘Homeplus Signature Zero Cider 1.5ℓ’ will be available for 1,000 won each. The ‘Non-alcoholic Hite Toad Special Pack’ can be purchased for 12,990 won, and the ‘Hoegaarden Zero Exclusive Glass Pack’ for 10,400 won.
