1st Anniversary of Gyeongbuk Autonomous Police Commission Full Implementation, Symbolic Image (CI) Unveiled
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Autonomous Police Committee held a 1st anniversary event for the autonomous police system at 2 p.m. on the 18th in the multipurpose hall of the provincial government office.
The event was organized to celebrate the first anniversary of the full-scale implementation of the autonomous police system and to set the direction for the future of the Gyeongbuk autonomous police.
Attendees included Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Provincial Council Chairman Bae Han-cheol, Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik, National Police Agency Commissioner Choi Jong-moon, Chairman of the Provincial Council Planning and Economy Committee Lee Chun-woo, members of the Autonomous Police Committee, Park Song-ha, head of the Gyeongbuk branch of the National Model Drivers Association, Lee Sang-dal, president of the Provincial Autonomous Crime Prevention Association, and Kim Min-seol, president of the Green Mothers’ Association.
The event also included the ‘Public Safety Administration Guide Policy Research Group’ for discovering Gyeongbuk-type autonomous police tasks and the ‘Gyeongbuk Autonomous Police University Ambassadors’ (Daegu and Gyeongbuk university students) for promoting the Gyeongbuk autonomous police system.
The ceremony proceeded with watching the Autonomous Police Committee promotional video, progress report, opening remarks, commemorative speeches, congratulatory messages and citizen support videos, award presentations, vision declaration (including the announcement of the Autonomous Police Committee symbol), and a performance.
At this event, the inaugural vision of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Autonomous Police Committee was announced as “A Safe Gyeongbuk in Daily Life, Happy Citizens Every Day!”
To realize this, two main goals were set: ▲ improving safety satisfaction that citizens can feel ▲ providing police services that move residents.
Additionally, four major strategies were established: ① Reliable daily safety through more meticulous care ② Customized police administration reflecting regional characteristics ③ Solid linkage and cooperation for building a safety net ④ Warm autonomous police through communication and participation.
The official symbol of the Autonomous Police Committee, the Commission Identity (CI), was also unveiled.
The committee’s CI features a shield shape protecting the citizens, symbolizing police administration (blue) and local administration (red) warmly embracing the citizens.
Going forward, the CI will be used for promoting the autonomous police system and in various content.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, “As police demands become increasingly complex and diverse, it is difficult for a uniform national police to ensure citizens’ safety. The autonomous police system, where local administration and police administration closely cooperate, can be the solution. For the autonomous police system desired by citizens to be realized, command and personnel authority over the autonomous police must be boldly transferred to local governments.”
Chairman Lee Soon-dong of the Autonomous Police Committee said, “Decentralization of the police is a sign of democracy, and the more decentralized the police are, the more they are loved by the people. As the inaugural autonomous police committee, we will lay the foundation for the autonomous police system and spread successful cases in the field of public safety nationwide.”
The Autonomous Police Committee was launched on May 20 last year and, after a pilot operation, has been officially directing and supervising autonomous police affairs since July of the same year.
