"Is it the same in other district offices?"... Controversial post criticizing promotion of problematic Grade 5 employee at Seoul A District Office draws attention
An Anonymous Post on the Employee Forum 'Blind' Raises Concerns Over a Level 6 (Team Leader) Who Should Be Disciplined Being Promoted to Level 5
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] "Is it the same in other district offices?"
This was a post written by an employee of a Seoul district office on the anonymous workplace forum 'Blind' on the 16th of last month.
The post criticized, saying, "Recently, there was a promotion to the position of office manager, but a Grade 6 employee, known for not working, was promoted to Grade 5."
It also included content such as, "During working hours, the employee took staff to a department store and made them carry shopping bags, which led an employee to report this to the audit department."
It added, "Employees think something is going on since the person who should have been disciplined was instead promoted to office manager."
The employee expressed regret, saying, "This is not all. Our district office is constantly surrounded by rumors about money."
When asked about these criticisms, the district office responded, "No reports have been received," but admitted that there were indeed issues.
It is also true that rumors circulated among public officials before promotions, but when an employee suddenly rises in the promotion hierarchy, suspicion cannot be avoided.
A representative from a Seoul district office said, "Rumors related to promotions never stop," and added, "Ultimately, integrity must be upheld by the person in charge of personnel affairs."
