Homeplus Sells Australian Beef in Eco-Friendly Paper Packaging
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Homeplus continues its eco-friendly efforts by gradually introducing paper packaging instead of plastic packaging for some products in the livestock section.
Homeplus announced on the 8th that starting from the 7th, six types of Australian beef special cuts (anchangsal, toshisal, chimasal, galbisal, kkotgalbisal, kaljipsalchisal; each 400g) sold at all stores nationwide will be packaged in eco-friendly paper packaging certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
The FSC-certified packaging (tray) applied to the six Australian clean beef special cuts replaces the existing plastic containers with FSC-certified paper containers, which can be separated and recycled as paper during waste sorting.
With this packaging change, Homeplus expects to reduce approximately 36.5 tons of plastic annually by cutting down on plastic packaging.
Homeplus anticipates that from next week, all stores nationwide will be able to fully switch to eco-friendly paper packaging featuring the logo of Homeplus’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) campaign brand ‘All For Zero.’ Additionally, to commemorate the application of eco-friendly paper packaging, a discount promotion on Australian grilled meat products will be held starting from the 14th.
