In the Context of Fostering Eco-Friendly Leaders Among University Students
Volunteer Activities Conducted Nationwide in National Parks

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hyundai Motor Group is improving social awareness of the environment and nurturing future eco-friendly leaders through the operation of a university student environmental volunteer group.
On the 5th, Hyundai Motor Group held the launch ceremony of the university student environmental volunteer group "Happy Move The Green" at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, attended by 100 university student volunteers along with event officials including Lee Byung-hoon, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Group, Son Young-im, Director of the Korea National Park Service, and Noh Jeom-hwan, Head of the Korea Tourism Organization. The group announced the official start of the volunteer group's activities.
Since 2008, Hyundai Motor Group has operated the "Happy Move Global Youth Volunteer Group," where university students engage in volunteer activities in various fields such as architecture, environment, education, and culture overseas, producing over 10,000 graduates cumulatively. However, considering the COVID-19 situation, activities were temporarily suspended after January 2020.
The university student environmental volunteer group "Happy Move The Green," which started activities on this day, is Hyundai Motor Group's university volunteer program resumed after 2 years and 5 months. The scope of volunteer activities, previously conducted overseas, has been shifted domestically, and the volunteer program is themed around the environment, a social issue of high interest among university students recently.
Hyundai Motor Group recruited applicants nationwide from May 3 to May 16. As a result, 100 university student volunteers were selected through screening and will participate in volunteer activities for about two months starting from today's launch ceremony.
The activities of the university student environmental volunteer group "Happy Move The Green" consist of various environment-related programs such as ▲group volunteering at national parks ▲team-based environmental volunteering ▲development and execution of eco-friendly domestic travel.
First, the 100 university student volunteers will participate in environmental volunteer work such as coastal dune restoration, removal of invasive plants, and marine litter collection at Taeanhaean National Park with the Korea National Park Service from the 6th to the 7th. During the 3-day, 2-night schedule from the launch ceremony to group volunteering, volunteers will minimize the use of disposable products. They will participate with a low-carbon, eco-friendly approach, including meals with high-nutrition diets excluding meat.
Following the group volunteer activities at the national park involving all volunteers, they will be divided into 20 teams of 5 members each and conduct environmental volunteer activities at national parks nationwide more than twice over two months according to pre-arranged schedules. These activities include protecting wildlife, planting wildflowers and trees, and environmental cleanup and monitoring.

A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "The activities of the university student environmental volunteer group 'Happy Move The Green' are designed around the themes of environment, volunteering, and travel so that university students can enjoy themselves while cultivating eco-friendly awareness."
