Air Busan will operate the ‘Air Busan Dream Campus’ starting from the 4th for 60 university students majoring in aviation-related fields in the region who aspire to work in the aviation industry.
Now in its second year, the ‘Air Busan Dream Campus’ aims to prevent local talent from migrating to the Seoul metropolitan area and to cultivate aviation professionals who will lead the development of the aviation industry, a key future industry, by providing practical training and work-centered education required by actual airlines.
The program is divided into two parts: ‘On-site Job Experience’ and ‘Maintenance Internship,’ allowing local students dreaming of employment in the aviation industry to gain hands-on job experience and develop their resumes.
The program was developed through collaboration between Air Busan, Busan City, and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency.
The ‘On-site Job Experience’ program is a job experience program where 50 university students from Busan majoring in aviation-related fields, who pass a four-stage selection process, are assigned to one of three departments?Flight Operations, Cabin, or General?according to their preference and receive job training and education for two months.
To help trainees focus on gaining job experience, a monthly job training support fund of 1.1 million KRW is provided to each trainee.
The ‘Maintenance Internship Program’ is an educational course where 10 university students from Busan majoring in aviation maintenance, selected through screening, undergo in-depth maintenance training for six months.
Maintenance interns are given opportunities to learn practical theory and hands-on training that are difficult to experience at school, along with a monthly training support fund of 1.45 million KRW.
Considering the difficulty local students face in obtaining information about the aviation industry due to a lack of aviation education infrastructure, Air Busan plans to newly introduce the ‘Air Busan Dream School.’
The ‘Air Busan Dream School’ is an educational program where Air Busan employees visit high schools in the region that request special lectures to give one-day classes or provide career experience counseling programs for high school students dreaming of a career in aviation.
The Air Busan Dream School is scheduled to be held in November.
An Air Busan official said, “The issue of local young talent outflow has emerged as a national problem beyond Busan,” adding, “As a regional airline, Air Busan is committed to continuously providing high-quality educational programs so that local talent does not migrate to the Seoul metropolitan area and can be nurtured into excellent aviation professionals.”
In April, Air Busan conducted the ‘Dream Academy,’ an educational program designed to support aspiring aviation professionals who are not aviation majors but wish to work in the aviation industry.
The 25 trainees selected at that time received training in areas such as ▲Understanding Pilot Training (Flight Operations) ▲In-flight Service Practice (Cabin) ▲Aircraft Check-in Procedures (Airport) ▲Introduction to Flight Dispatcher Duties (Flight Management), exploring all airline job roles.
