Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Conducts Fire Safety Education and Campaign
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Nambu Fire Station announced on the 30th that it conducted fire safety education and a campaign at Bitgoeul Senior Health Town to prevent safety accidents.
According to Gwangju City statistics, the proportion of the population aged 65 and over increased by about 2% over the past five years, from 12.1% in 2017 to 14.5% in 2021.
Accordingly, the Nambu Fire Station launched fire safety education and campaigns targeting the elderly, who are vulnerable to securing safety when exposed to risks due to physical function decline, to prevent safety accidents.
The fire safety education and campaign held that day aimed to raise safety awareness and alertness to fire, and included ▲ guidance on the use of fire extinguishers and standalone smoke detectors ▲ emergency first aid methods such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) ▲ and how to report to 119.
In addition, time was taken on-site to directly enroll participants in the ‘119 Safety Call Service,’ which allows the ambulance team to know the caller’s disease and situation characteristics in advance and provide customized dispatch and response when a 119 call is received.
