Jeongeup-si Provides Childcare Support of 200,000 KRW per Person to Parents Under 24 Years Old
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, will implement a child-rearing expense support project for teenage parents from next month until December to reduce the child-rearing burden on teenage parents raising children in economically challenging environments.
According to the city on the 30th, the child-rearing expense support project for teenage parents provides 200,000 KRW per child per month to low-income teenage parent households aged 24 or younger.
Although there have been many support projects for low-income and single-parent families, this is the first time that child-rearing expenses are being supported specifically for young teenage parents.
The support target is households where both parents are aged 24 or younger as of June 1, 2022, maintain a marital relationship (including common-law marriage), and have a median income of 60% or less.
Teenage parents wishing to apply can submit identification, family relation certificates, income certificates, and other documents proving identity and income to the local town, township, or neighborhood office starting from the 1st of next month.
If selected as a support recipient, they will receive 200,000 KRW per child per month from the month of application until December.
A city official said, “We support teenage parent families who steadfastly raise their children and prepare for the future despite difficult circumstances,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a society where no one is left behind and children can be raised in a stable environment.”
