Jeju Police Agency Provides Living Stability Support Funds and Other Assistance to Crime Victims
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Police Agency (Chief Lee Sang-ryul) decided at the Victim Protection Working Committee on the 29th to provide living stabilization support funds and scholarships totaling 35.5 million won to 28 crime victims who are experiencing economic difficulties due to crime.
According to the Jeju Police Agency on the 30th, the recipients are crime victims who are having difficulty making a living or continuing their studies due to economic hardship caused by violent crimes, domestic violence, child abuse, and other crimes.
This financial support is made possible through a social contribution fund designated and entrusted to the Jeju branch of the Korean Red Cross by the Lotte Scholarship Foundation and Cheonma Co., Ltd. under a business agreement with the Jeju Police Agency, as well as living expenses provided by the Jeju branch of the Korean Red Cross to victims of violence, and will be deposited directly into the victims' personal bank accounts.
In April, the Jeju Police Agency also held a Victim Protection Working Committee meeting and provided 33.2 million won to a total of 13 crime victims.
Furthermore, the agency plans to continue cooperating with related organizations to support crime victims.
Lee Sang-ryul, Chief of the Jeju Police Agency, stated, “While focusing police efforts on safely protecting socially vulnerable groups, we must also devote sincere care to the protection and support of crime victims and their families.”
He added, “To help crime victims quickly restore their daily lives and regain stability, we will continuously promote cooperative partnerships with social enterprises and related organizations.”
Meanwhile, the Jeju Police Agency is making multifaceted efforts to protect and support victims, including collaborating with the Jeju Provincial Government to produce emergency supplies for victims of violent crimes or large-scale disasters.
