According to the 'Leisure White Paper 2022' recently published by the Korea Leisure Industry Research Institute, the number of golf participants in South Korea was counted at 5.64 million last year. This is an increase of 940,000 compared to 4.7 million in 2019.
The number of golf participants in Japan was counted at 5.2 million as of 2020. Japan's golf population decreased from 9.6 million in 2009 to 5.2 million in 2020. The number of golf participants in Japan has been steadily declining since peaking at 14.8 million in 1992.

The golf participation rate among the total population in South Korea was 10.2% based on the population aged 13 and older. This is an increase compared to 6.6% in 2019. In contrast, Japan's golf participation rate among the population aged 15 and older was only 5.3%.
