The event was hosted by the Dong-Eui University IMPACT Student Council and sponsored by the Corporation 2030 Busan World Expo Citizen Supporters, with 86 students and faculty members participating.
The students completed 103 km across 6 courses of the Jeju Olle Trail and 20 km on the Hallasan Seongpanak course, carrying flags wishing for the Busan World Expo hosting and conducting promotional activities at various famous spots in Jeju.
Dong-Eui University plans to provide a special scholarship of 400,000 KRW per person to students who complete the Olle Trail.
The Student Council plans to produce event videos and compile photos into card news, followed by secondary SNS promotion through Instagram, Facebook, and Naver Band.
Lee Cheol-kyun, Director of Student Support at Dong-Eui University, who joined the students in climbing Hallasan, said, “If the World Expo, one of the world's three major festivals along with the World Cup and the Olympics, is held in Busan, Busan can rise as a global city, and it is expected to provide a foundation for our youth to stay in Busan and pursue their dreams here.”
Lee Dong-eon, President of the Dong-Eui University Student Council, said, “The Jeju National March was personally a valuable opportunity to cultivate a spirit of challenge for the future and to reflect on myself once again,” adding, “It was a meaningful opportunity that served as a driving force for regional development by raising national interest through promotional activities for the Busan World Expo hosting.”
The Dong-Eui University Student Council has been conducting national marches and cultural excursions during summer vacations since 2010 to appreciate the beauty of the country and to foster students' patriotism, patience, willpower, camaraderie, and progressive capabilities.
The events were suspended for the past two years due to COVID-19 but resumed this year.
