SK Gas Partners with Happiness Alliance to Eliminate Child Hunger in Jeju City
SK Gas Donates 100 Million KRW to Jeju City for 'Happy Dookki Project' through Happiness Alliance
Continuing ESG Activities by Supporting Vulnerable Groups and Strengthening Social Safety Nets
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] SK Gas has donated 100 million KRW to support children at risk of food insecurity.
On the 28th, SK Gas held a signing ceremony for the Jeju City 'Happy Two Meals Project' at Jeju City Hall, attended by key figures including Yubeom Sang, Head of SK Gas Jeju Branch, Andong Woo, Mayor of Jeju City, Im Eunmi, Director of the Happy Alliance, and Choi Kangjong, Chairman of the Happy Dosirak Social Cooperative. During the event, SK Gas announced the donation of 100 million KRW to eliminate child food insecurity.
The 'Happy Two Meals Project' is a social contribution program where local governments, companies, and communities collaborate to ensure that children at risk of food insecurity in welfare blind spots receive at least two meals a day. Last July, SK Gas also donated funds through the Happy Alliance and delivered Happy Dosirak lunchboxes to 50 children at risk of food insecurity in Haeundae District, Busan, until April this year.
This project is carried out by having the Happy Dosirak Social Cooperative prepare lunchboxes using SK Gas’s donation, and the Happy Alliance delivers these lunchboxes to 100 children at risk of food insecurity identified by Jeju City. After the project concludes, Jeju City plans to continue institutional support by allocating basic local government budgets to ensure that children at risk of food insecurity can continuously receive meals.
Last year, SK Gas announced its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) master plan, expressing its commitment to fulfilling social responsibilities and pursuing mutual growth with stakeholders in the social sector. Accordingly, this year, SK Gas is practicing ESG management with a focus on strengthening the social safety net by achieving zero food insecurity. Recently, SK Gas employees volunteered to provide meal support to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and homeless people at ‘Anna’s House,’ a social welfare foundation in Seongnam City.
