Gochang-gun to Operate 'Gochanghak Academy' Until November

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 27th that it will operate the ‘2022 Gochang Studies Academy’ nine times with residents until November.

Now in its third year, the Gochang Studies Academy is composed of ‘Gochang Studies Lectures’ by academic experts under the theme of ‘Humanistic Reflection and Field Exploration of Gochang’s Natural Heritage’ and ‘Gochang Regional Culture Exploration’ with local celebrities.

The Gochang Studies Lectures will cover ▲Gochang’s trees and cultural resources (Kim Yongsik, Director of Cheollipo Arboretum) ▲Gochang’s sea and cultural resources (Na Kyungsoo, Professor Emeritus at Chonnam National University) ▲Biosphere reserve areas and wetlands (Kim Changhwan, Professor at Jeonbuk National University) ▲Gochang’s fields and rivers (Shin Jeongil, Chairman of Uri Land Walking).

The Gochang Regional Culture Exploration will include ▲Tour of Gochang’s natural monuments and scenic spots (Yoon Joo, Director of Korea Regional Culture Ecology Research Institute) ▲Tour of the World Heritage Gochang Tidal Flats and surroundings (Kim Jun, PhD at Gwangju Jeonnam Research Institute) ▲The ecosystem treasure, Ungok Ramsar Wetland (Shin Youngsoon, Secretary General of Ungok Wetland Ecological Center) ▲Tracing the source of Gochang’s waterways (Lee Byeongyeol, PhD at Gochang Culture Research Association) ▲Gochang’s natural landscape and the current state of the 6th industry (Ryu Younggi, CEO of Sangha Farm).

Oh Taejong, Director of the Cultural Arts Division of the county, said, “A humanistic understanding of Gochang’s natural heritage and intuitive field exploration is the best way to systematically learn about Gochang’s regional culture,” adding, “It will be a valuable time for local residents to communicate and learn together.”
