Jeep Launches Premium Compact SUV 'New Compass' in Korea
The price starts from 51.4 million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Jeep announced on the 23rd the official launch of the premium compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) ‘New Compass.’
The New Compass is a facelifted model of the 2nd generation Compass introduced in Korea in 2018. After a successful debut in Europe, the United States, and other countries worldwide, it has now been launched in the Korean market. Returning with a new look after four years, the new Compass enhances its product appeal with a premium-level interior design and finish quality, improved on-road driving performance, and refined safety and connectivity features to increase user satisfaction. Jeep plans to target the MZ generation ‘The Switchers,’ who switch between their main and secondary identities, by emphasizing the New Compass’s versatility that transcends driving environments and limits.
The New Compass features an upgraded front seven-slot grille design, bumper, and LED headlamps that harmonize to create a sophisticated and dynamic impression. While maintaining the highly refined exterior proportions that earned it the nickname ‘Baby Grand Cherokee,’ signature details have been modified to develop its unique character.
The most noticeable change at the front is the new 7-slot grille and LED headlamps. The seven-slot grille and middle grille, surrounded by high-gloss black, add depth to the front, and the enlarged lower grille enhances engine cooling function while creating a distinct impression. All trims come standard with LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, and LED tail lamps, and the newly introduced 18- and 19-inch wheel designs further enhance its appeal.
The new Compass model is powered by a 2.4ℓ MultiAir engine paired with 6-speed and 9-speed automatic transmissions, delivering up to 175 horsepower and a maximum torque of 23.4 kgm. This provides a comfortable ride in urban settings and dynamic driving performance off-road. The Limited 2.4 FWD, specialized for city driving, comes standard with 18-inch aluminum wheels and is equipped with Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport tires. These tires are premium high-performance SUV products optimized for urban and paved roads, offering excellent grip on corners and straight roads with a tread pattern designed for sporty driving enjoyment.
The Limited 2.4 AWD and S 2.4 AWD, designed for adventures into nature, feature Jeep’s unique 4x4 technology. The Jeep Active Drive system, which delivers maximum torque fully to each wheel, boasts best-in-class off-road performance and allows free switching between four-wheel and two-wheel drive with a rear axle disconnect function.
In Korea, the vehicle is sold in three trims depending on specifications, priced at 51.4 million KRW for the Limited 2.4 FWD, 54.4 million KRW for the Limited 2.4 AWD, and 56.4 million KRW for the S 2.4 AWD.
