CJ Logistics Acquires Multiple Patents for 'Advanced Logistics Technology'..."Leading Logistics Innovation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Innovative technology company CJ Logistics is leading the advancement of the logistics industry by registering a series of patents for logistics systems utilizing algorithms.
On the 23rd, CJ Logistics announced that its TES Logistics Technology Research Institute has consecutively registered patents for cutting-edge logistics technologies, including the ‘Order Picking Optimization Method,’ ‘Integrated Management Method and System for Heterogeneous Logistics Automation Equipment,’ and ‘Depalletizer System and Its Control Method.’
The Order Picking Optimization Method was developed as an algorithm to support fast and accurate picking operations in fulfillment services where various products are stored in multiple locations. Order picking refers to the process of shipping items from a warehouse according to customer order units, and the core of the technology is to enhance efficiency by enabling picking carts or robots to find the optimal route. By developing an algorithm based on logistics big data, the number of points that need to be visited to pick up products is reduced, thereby decreasing the total travel distance. As the travel distance of carts or robots shortens, the overall delivery operation time can also be reduced.
Additionally, the order picking optimization manages congestion per shelf where products are stored. It prevents bottlenecks caused by picking carts or robots crowding in specific locations, minimizing waiting times. This system is currently applied at the Gonjiam Fulfillment Center, improving logistics efficiency and contributing to increased customer satisfaction.
The depalletizer (a robot that transfers boxes stacked on pallets to conveyor belts) system is also actively operating in logistics sites based on artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. By applying AI deep learning technology, it recognizes the volume of boxes and determines whether multiple products can be lifted at once. The AI groups products that can be picked redundantly and applies algorithm technology to designate the optimal work order between each group, thereby enhancing logistics productivity. By having robots perform simple repetitive tasks that workers tend to avoid, it is leading the modernization of logistics centers.
