Daejeon Special Judicial Police Crack Down on 9 Illegal Beauty Salons
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City Civil Affairs Judicial Police Division (hereinafter referred to as Special Judicial Police) announced on the 23rd that it recently conducted a planned investigation targeting beauty salons in the area and uncovered 9 businesses violating the Public Hygiene Management Act.
The Special Judicial Police focused on the fact that most operators of unregistered businesses mainly promote their services through social networking services (SNS) such as KakaoTalk, Instagram, and blogs, and operate on a one-on-one reservation basis with customers. Based on this, they conducted intensive crackdowns on unregistered businesses through online preliminary information gathering.
As a result, 9 illegal beauty salons were identified, including those performing unlicensed beauty treatments, operating without registration, and using medical devices for skin care.
Beauty salons can only be established by individuals licensed as beauticians, and to operate, they must register their business with the relevant district office.
However, among the businesses caught, 8 were found to have continued nail, makeup, and cosmetic beauty operations without business registration. Among these, 3 businesses are also suspected of performing unqualified beauty procedures without a license.
Furthermore, despite the prohibition under the Public Hygiene Management Act on the use of medical devices within skin care salons according to the Medical Devices Act, Salon A located in Jung-gu was found to have kept a high-frequency stimulator, a medical device, on the premises and provided high-frequency skin treatments to customers visiting the salon.
The Special Judicial Police plan to take judicial action against the identified beauty salons and request administrative sanctions from the relevant autonomous district offices.
