Yongsan Police Station Creates Memorial Space for 96 Fallen Officers in Main Building Lobby

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on the 20th that it held a 'Memorial Space Opening Ceremony for Fallen Officers' in the lobby on the first floor of the main building around 3 p.m. to commemorate the fallen police officers.
The event was attended by about 25 police officers, including Lee Im-jae, Chief of Yongsan Police Station, Jo Seung-no, President of the Yongsan Police Veterans Association, Jeong Eul-gyun, Head of the Yongsan District Branch of the Seoul Headquarters of the Korean Government Employees' Union, and Jeong Jun, Chairman of the Yongsan Police Station Workplace Council. They wore white gloves in a solemn atmosphere to pay tribute to the fallen officers.
The memorial space project was promoted by the Yongsan Police Station Workplace Council on its 2nd anniversary to foster a sense of belonging among employees to the Yongsan Police Station. The Yongsan Police Station also supported this project, enabling the opening of the memorial space.
At the center of the memorial space, photos of the fallen officers since 2000?Sergeant Kim Jong-hwa, Sergeant Hong Bong-rae, Sergeant Jeon Bang-hwan, and Corporal Jin Young-woo?were displayed. To the left of the photos, a memorial poem honoring their sacrifice was posted, and to the right, a nameplate engraved with the names and causes of death of 96 fallen officers was exhibited.

A Yongsan Police Station official stated, "With the establishment of this memorial space, we will deeply cherish the spirit of sacrifice of the fallen officers who gave their lives for the nation and its people," adding, "We will also use this space as a training venue for officers newly assigned to the station to ensure the spirit of sacrifice is passed on."
