Jeongeup-si to Provide Emergency Living Stabilization Support up to 1.45 Million KRW for Low-Income Households

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, is providing the ‘Emergency Living Stabilization Support Fund for Low-Income Households’ to low-income families who are feeling a significant burden from increased living expenses due to the recent rapid rise in prices.

The ‘Emergency Living Stabilization Support Fund for Low-Income Households’ is a support fund aimed at alleviating the living burden of low-income families and increasing their consumption capacity. It is temporarily provided according to the government’s second supplementary budget and is fully funded by the national government.

The eligible recipients include basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated near-poor classes, and single-parent families eligible for child-rearing support who acquired their qualifications before May 29. Approximately 8,200 households in the Jeongeup area are expected to benefit.

The payment amount varies according to the number of household members and eligibility criteria, ranging from a minimum of 300,000 KRW to a maximum of 1,450,000 KRW.

Considering the purpose of the support, the payment will be made in the form of prepaid cards, which are easier to manage afterward and can be used regardless of region, instead of cash.

The prepaid cards can be used temporarily until December 31, excluding entertainment, gambling, and leisure industries.

Recipients can receive the support without a separate application by bringing their ID to the town or township office or the community service center at their registered address.

The city expects that this support fund will not only stabilize the lives of low-income households and ease their financial burdens but also provide significant relief to small business owners and self-employed individuals facing severe crises, thereby greatly aiding the recovery of the local economy.

Mayor Yoo Jinseop said on the 17th, “I hope this will provide even a little help to low-income families struggling due to the long-lasting COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We will focus administrative efforts to ensure no eligible recipients are missed.”
