Kim Dong-yeon Administration Transition Team Fully Launched... Will 'Gyeonggi Bund' Gain Momentum?

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The transition committee for Gyeonggi Province Governor-elect Kim Dong-yeon officially began its 18-day activities on the 13th, starting with listening to work reports from each department and bureau of the provincial government, continuing until the 30th.
Yeom Tae-young, co-chairman of the transition committee, said, "The role of the transition committee is to ensure that the first button of the Gyeonggi Province administration under Governor Kim Dong-yeon is fastened smoothly." He added, "The slogan is ‘Center of Change, Opportunity Gyeonggi.’ We will do our best to ensure that the governor-elect’s vision and philosophy are implemented in the provincial administration."
The transition committee plans to listen to work reports from the provincial government’s departments and bureaus for a week starting today, then from next week, review the implementation plans for campaign pledges. If necessary, they will hold meetings with related organizations and institutions and conduct field visits.
The transition committee is composed of six divisions (Planning and Finance, Policy Coordination, Economy, Housing and Transportation, Social Welfare, Local Administration), three special committees (Gyeonggi Northern Special Autonomous Province, Solidarity and Cooperation, SMEs-Startups), and one task force (Future Agriculture and Fisheries Innovation), with 1 to 3 transition committee members assigned per division.
The Policy Coordination Division is responsible for policy coordination, developing the provincial administration slogan, and the transition committee report, with members including Yoon Deok-ryong, research fellow at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), and Lee Young-joo, director of the Seoul National University Human Rights Research Institute. The Planning and Finance Division, which reviews major operations of the transition committee and current issues and directions for campaign pledge implementation, includes members such as human rights lawyer Choi Eun-soon, Jo Sung-eun, former director of the Communication Strategy Research Institute at Cocom Porton Valley, and Lee Won-jae, CEO of Lab2050.
Additionally, the Economy Division, which handles overall economic-related campaign pledges, includes members like Moon Woo-sik, professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies, and Bae Hyun-gi, CEO of Wells Guide. Other divisions in operation include Local Administration (Kim Yoo-im, former provincial assembly member, and So Soon-chang, professor at Konkuk University), Housing and Transportation (Kim Sun-hee, director of Suwon City Research Institute, and Yoo Jung-hoon, professor of Transportation Systems Engineering at Ajou University), and Social Welfare (Min So-young, professor of Social Welfare at Gyeonggi University, and Lee Ja-hyung, proportional representative-elect of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly).
Governor-elect Kim also separately formed three special committees and one task force within the transition committee. The Gyeonggi Northern Special Autonomous Province Special Committee is chaired by Kim Yong-jin, former chairman of the National Pension Service and vice-chairman of the transition committee, and Son Kyung-sik, former deputy mayor of Uijeongbu City. The Solidarity and Cooperation Special Committee is led by Yoon Deok-ryong, chair of the Policy Coordination Division, and a People Power Party nominee (undecided). The SMEs-Startups Special Committee is chaired by Lee Woo-jin, professor at Kookmin University, and Ban Ho-young, CEO of Neofact and co-chairman of the transition committee. The Future Agriculture and Fisheries Innovation Task Force includes Min Seung-gyu, endowed professor of Plant Life and Environment at Hankyong National University, and a People Power Party nominee (undecided).

Governor-elect Kim attended the first work report session from the Planning and Coordination Office, General Administration Officer, Gangwon Research Institute, and Gangwon Development Corporation, stating, "I will help public officials work enthusiastically and confidently." He added, "Starting with the upcoming regular personnel appointments, I will create an environment where public officials can work properly."

Kim Ki-seon, chairman of the transition committee, said, "I thank the public officials who have worked well with Governor Choi Moon-soon for 12 years," and urged, "Please approach this with the attitude of how to resolve any issues or concerns as we open a new era for Gangwon Province." The Gangwon Province governor transition committee plans to receive work reports from 24 departments, bureaus, affiliated agencies, and branch offices by the 16th and prepare a blueprint for the next provincial administration.
