‘20-Year-Old Kkaem, 20-Year-Old Cry’ … Dongmyung University Department of Advertising & PR and Busan Viewer Media Center Public Service Advertisement Contest

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Do-ing Talent Development Department of Advertising and PR at Dongmyung University and the Busan Viewer Media Center of the Korea Communications Commission held the 4th Public Service Advertisement Contest under the slogan "The Spirit of Twenty, The Cry of Twenty" on the 8th at the 2nd floor public hall of the Busan Viewer Media Center.
The prestigious Grand Prize was awarded to students Kim Min-ji, Kim Soo-young, Kim Bo-min, Park Jae-hak, Kim Hye-bin, and Kim Min-jun for presenting a public service advertisement aimed at bridging the information gap among the elderly.
The Excellence Award was given to two teams: one consisting of Ha Sang-beom, Lee Soo-jung, Kim Da-som, Kim Chae-eun, Song Woo-jin, and Choi Eun-seol for a public service advertisement improving awareness of guide dogs for the visually impaired; and another consisting of Son Seung-woo, Kim Soo-ji, Kwon Eun-jung, Hwang Hye-bin, Yoo Jae-min, and Jung Jae-hyuk for a public service advertisement improving awareness of No Kids Zones.
The Grand Prize and Excellence Award winners, three teams in total, received the Busan Viewer Media Center Director's Award from the Korea Communications Commission.
The Merit Award went to students Kang Hwan-hee, Kang Jong-hyun, Hwang Hee-young, Kim Kwang-rae, Oh Soo-jin, and Shin Soo-kyung for producing a public service advertisement protecting the mobility rights of persons with disabilities; Kim Yoon-hee, Park In-woo, Kim Seo-jin, Yoo Ji-ye, Park In-hee, and Jung Sung-won for proposing a campaign to vacate seats for pregnant women; and Yoon Ji-hyun, Byun Ga-young, Lee Bom, Kim Sun-il, Nam Hyun-woo, and Kang Nu-rim for emphasizing the importance of mobility rights for persons with disabilities during disasters.
The advertisements created by the students will be made available to the public through the Dongmyung University Advertising and PR Department’s website and social media channels.
The contest was conducted as part of the jointly operated major course "Media Literacy and Writing," which has been co-managed by the two institutions for four years.
The judging panel included Wang Hyun-ho, team leader of the Busan Viewer Media Center and a public planning expert; Professor Lee Yong-jae of Dongmyung University, an advertising expert formerly of Ogilvy & Mather; and Dr. Hwang Woo-nyeom of Hanyang University, a culture and communication expert, ensuring fairness in the evaluation.
The 37 students enrolled in "Media Literacy and Writing" were divided into six teams after studying media theory, media literacy theory, and BigKinds utilization, and prepared for the contest over five weeks.
The students independently selected topics addressing various human rights issues in Korean society from the unique perspective of advertising and PR students, and carried out advertising planning and print advertisement production.

During the planning and production process, mentors including Wang Hyun-ho from the Busan Viewer Media Center, Dr. Hwang Woo-nyeom from Hanyang University, senior students Jung Jae-hyuk and Moon Jae-ho, and junior students Kang Nu-rim and Park Jae-hak provided guidance and support.
