Seven Eleven Launches 'Kkotpineun Cheonggyecheon' ESG Initiative
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Convenience store Seven Eleven carried out the ‘Blooming Cheonggyecheon’ activity on the 8th near Cheonggye Plaza by Cheonggyecheon Stream in Seoul, creating flower beds.
According to Seven Eleven on the 9th, as part of the Cheonggye Atti activities, about 30 executives and employees from four public and private institutions including Seven Eleven, the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Daesang Corporation jointly participated in this ‘Blooming Cheonggyecheon’ activity. Each institution created four flower beds, totaling 16, near Cheonggye Plaza, planting various garden plants such as white cosmos, pelargonium, yucca, and viola in the flower beds.
Cheonggye Atti means a beautiful band protecting Cheonggyecheon, and it is an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activity where companies or organizations voluntarily participate to cultivate the greenery and environment of Cheonggyecheon together. It is a project operated by the Seoul Facilities Corporation.
This ‘Blooming Cheonggyecheon’ activity is significant in that four public and private institutions cooperated to realize the ESG value of eco-friendliness. The four institutions, including Seven Eleven, plan to continue various forms of ESG activities through mutual cooperation.

Seon Sinjeong, head of social contribution at Seven Eleven, said, “Since Cheonggyecheon is a healing space in the city visited by many citizens, we participated in this Cheonggye Atti activity to provide a cleaner and greener environment to the citizens,” adding, “It was more meaningful to work together with institutions sharing the same purpose, and we will continue to strengthen our ESG cooperative relationships.”
