Seoul City Supports Disinfection Devices and Sanitizers for All 4,800 Childcare Centers
Support for Small Wireless Disinfectors and 23ℓ Disinfectants to Reduce Infection Prevention and Quarantine Cost Burden
Increased Safety with KC-Certified Disinfectors and MFDS-Approved Quasi-Drug Disinfectants
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that, following the provision of thermal cameras, rapid antigen test kits, and transparent masks to daycare centers, it will now provide small wireless disinfectors and hand sanitizers to all 4,818 daycare centers.
This support is a measure to reduce the financial burden of purchasing quarantine supplies for daycare centers as they transition to a self-directed quarantine system. Currently, daycare centers are required to conduct fever checks and ventilation, as well as regularly disinfect personal items frequently touched by infants and toddlers, shared spaces, educational materials, and other items at least once a day.
Seoul will supply 9,636 small wireless disinfectors and 118,814 liters of hand sanitizer to a total of 4,818 facilities, including 4,787 daycare centers and 31 hourly childcare facilities, by June. Each facility will receive two disinfectors and 23 liters of sanitizer. The KC-certified small wireless disinfectors are designed with a wireless automatic spray system that childcare staff can easily use. Considering the vulnerability of infants and toddlers to exposure from disinfectant ingredients, hand sanitizers containing over 70% ethanol, certified as quasi-drugs by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for safety, have been selected for support.
Seoul will also provide usage guidelines to ensure the safe use of quarantine supplies in daycare centers. These guidelines recommend wearing protective equipment during disinfection, spraying disinfectant onto disposable cloths for wiping, ensuring sufficient ventilation, and removing any residue with a towel moistened with clean water to promote safe use.

Meanwhile, Seoul has continuously supported various quarantine supplies to prevent COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in daycare centers. Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Women and Family Policy Office, stated, “The disinfectors and sanitizers provided to daycare centers are intended to prevent infectious diseases and reduce the financial burden of quarantine costs. Especially since this summer is expected to be somewhat hotter than usual, we will focus on managing daycare center quarantine to ensure that infants, toddlers, and childcare staff can live in a safe environment, and we will do our best to achieve this.”
