Actors Kim Hyun-joo and Kim Kang-woo Appointed as Ambassadors for 'BCM 2022'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] ‘Busan Contents Market (BCM) 2022’ made a fruitful start on its opening day with the appointment of promotional ambassadors and investment agreements.
Busan City appointed actors Kim Hyun-joo and Kim Kang-woo as promotional ambassadors to ensure the successful hosting of ‘Busan Contents Market (BCM) 2022’.
‘Busan Contents Market 2022,’ sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Busan City, is held under the theme ‘Your story is our story,’ with over 700 buyers and sellers from more than 400 companies across 43 countries participating.
The event features ▲BCM Market ▲BCM Funding ▲BCM Conference along with various side events and opens on the 8th.
Kim Hyun-joo, the new face of BCM this year, is an actor well recognized not only domestically but also globally, having appeared in last year’s Netflix original series drama ‘Hellbound’ and JTBC drama ‘Undercover.’
She has confirmed her appearance in the SBS drama ‘Trolley,’ signaling another transformation.
Kim Kang-woo has appeared in JTBC drama ‘Spy City’ and KBS drama ‘Woman of 9.9 Billion.’ He is also confirmed to star in director Kwak Kyung-taek’s first domestic espionage thriller audio movie ‘Far East.’
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, “The appointment of promotional ambassadors reflects our high evaluation of the influence of these two actors who have gained global recognition not only domestically but also through online video services (OTT). I believe they will do their best as promotional ambassadors for the successful hosting of ‘Busan Contents Market 2022’ and its growth into a global market.”
Along with this, an investment agreement ceremony to discover promising domestic and international content and activate production will be held at 11 a.m. on the opening day, the 8th.
The agreement involves Ilsin Startup Investment, Union Investment Partners, and Daesung Startup Investment.
The content to be invested in through the agreement includes ▲the drama ‘Connection’ by ‘SPIS’ ▲the webtoon-based drama ‘Timeshare House’ by ‘21 Studio’ ▲the movie ‘Midnight Cafe’ by ‘K-Dragon.’
‘SPIS’ is a production company that recently produced the KakaoTV original drama ‘Crazy X in This Area,’ which attracted much attention with its provocative title and fresh content.
‘Timeshare House,’ a new content by ‘21 Studio,’ is a drama based on the popular KakaoPage webtoon of the same name, which began serialization in 2018 and has accumulated 450,000 views.
At the time of serialization, the webtoon gained great popularity for its unique subject matter and innovative story structure that travels through past, present, and future.
‘Midnight Cafe’ by Busan-based film and video production company ‘K-Dragon’ is a movie based on the drama ‘Midnight Cafe,’ which aired on MBC starting in 2019 and produced up to season 3.
The work deals with a cheerful healing story that takes place in a midnight cafe beyond time and space, not found on any map, set in Busan.
‘Midnight Cafe’ was recognized for its artistic quality by winning Best Director and Best Supporting Actress awards at last year’s German web drama festival ‘Die Seriale’ and is currently preparing for release.
The BCM Conference, held from the opening day through the 10th at BEXCO Convention Hall, will also feature presentations by famous speakers.
On the 8th, ▲Global Business Briefing ▲Lecture on ‘Content Production Leading Climate Change’ ▲Discussion commemorating the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations will take place.
On the 9th, ▲‘Pachinko, Stories from the Set’ with the production team and actors of the drama ‘Pachinko’ ▲Lecture on ‘NFT Industry Trends and Development Directions’ by NFT experts ▲Metaverse lecture will be held.

Now in its 16th year, Busan Contents Market has attracted a total of over 8,400 companies and 20,850 buyers until last year, resulting in content contracts exceeding 400 million dollars.
