The Gyeonggi Fire Department announced on the 7th that it will carry out a two-time intensive crackdown on illegal fire safety practices at 436 locations, including large logistics warehouses and construction sites in the province, on the 9th and 28th of this month.
This crackdown comes in response to the continuous occurrence of large logistics warehouse fires in the province, such as the Icheon logistics center fire in May.
A total of 218 personnel from 109 patrol teams from the headquarters and each fire station will be mobilized for the crackdown.
The main inspection items include ▲blocked emergency exits ▲obstruction of fire safety facilities ▲illegal parking ▲temporary fire safety facilities ▲unauthorized hazardous materials, among others.
A Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters official emphasized, "Since the crackdown dates were announced in advance, any illegal acts detected will be strictly punished under the zero-tolerance principle," adding, "We will thoroughly track and strongly punish illegal fire safety acts that threaten the safety of residents."
