View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chae-seok] SK Gas Stations have ranked first in the '2022 Korea Industry Brand Power (K-BPI) Gas Station Category' for 16 consecutive years. The K-BPI, organized by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), is an index that has measured brand competitiveness of products and services across domestic industries since 1999. This achievement recognizes their swift reflection of customer preferences and the trends of the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) era.
As of the end of last year, SK Gas Stations operate the largest network in the country with approximately 3,000 gas stations. They are strengthening fueling services to ensure customers can conveniently refuel anytime and anywhere. They have also continuously introduced new products and services needed by drivers and fueling customers. The premium gasoline new product launched last year, 'Solux Plus,' reduces the amount of residue generated inside the engine during fuel combustion. It protects the engine, extends vehicle lifespan, improves engine output and fuel efficiency, and reduces noise. Notably, it helps reduce air pollutants by lowering harmful exhaust emissions. From November last year to the end of February this year, the 'Carbon Neutral Petroleum Products' sold allowed gas station customers to participate in carbon reduction. This method offsets carbon emissions by acquiring carbon credits through afforestation and forest restoration equivalent to the greenhouse gases generated during production, transportation, and consumption.

In line with strengthening ESG, gas stations are also being developed as eco-friendly energy hubs. The country's first 'Energy Superstation,' opened in February at Parkmi Gas Station in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, offers not only traditional fueling but also electric vehicle charging services. The electricity used for EV charging is generated on-site using solar power and fuel cells, serving as a model for eco-friendly electricity production through distributed power sources by region. Additionally, since 2020, SK Gas Stations have collaborated with the Fire Agency to operate gas stations as 'Our Neighborhood First Aid Stations.' They are also expanding 'Truck Driver Rest Areas' nationwide to support rest and traffic safety for truck drivers who frequently drive long distances. Oh Jong-hoon, CEO of SK Energy Platform & Marketing Corporate Independent Company (P&M CIC), stated, "We will continue to develop customer-centered marketing and eco-friendly energy solutions," adding, "We will transform SK Gas Stations from mere 'fueling spaces' into 'customer satisfaction stations.'"
