50th Anniversary of Environment Day... 'Seoul International Environmental Film Festival' to be Held from Next Month 2 to 8
Selected 73 Films from 25 Countries... Cyril Dion's New Film 'Animal' Chosen as Opening Film of 'Tomorrow'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The 19th Seoul International Environment Film Festival, which seeks coexistence between the environment and humans and conveys alternative solutions and practical messages for the future, will be held for seven days from July 2 to 8. Marking its 19th year, the Seoul International Environment Film Festival is sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Environment, organized by the Environmental Foundation, and will feature various side events such as the ‘Outdoor Screening with Pets,’ ‘Courageous Green Festival Campaign,’ and ‘PLAY ECO Experience Activities.’
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 31st, this year’s Seoul International Environment Film Festival will screen 73 environmental films from 25 countries selected through a judging process. Viewers can watch the films for free by applying in advance or on-site at Megabox Seongsu, and from 6 p.m. on June 2 through the 8th, the films will also be available in the Seoul International Environment Film Festival digital screening room. This year’s festival will also hold various side events both online and offline, including the ‘Outdoor Screening with Pets,’ ‘Eco Forum,’ and ‘Courageous Green Festival Campaign,’ as well as discussions with directors and environmental experts.
Since 2004, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Environment have jointly sponsored the Seoul International Environment Film Festival, providing a platform for discourse on global environmental issues such as climate change by introducing outstanding domestic and international environmental films. This year, the festival has established itself as Asia’s largest environmental film festival, receiving a record-breaking 3,578 submissions from 123 countries.
