'Traffic Violation Inquiry Service' Offers 'Easy Authentication' on Naver, KakaoTalk, and More
Vehicle Fines, Easily Verified with Social Login
Convenient Inquiry and Payment of Parking Violations and Bus/Bicycle Lane Fines Increased
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The personal authentication method for the traffic violation enforcement inquiry service has been improved, making it easier to check unpaid fines related to vehicles in the future.
On the 31st, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will introduce simple authentication via social media in addition to financial certificates when accessing the traffic violation enforcement inquiry service, allowing convenient personal authentication using Naver, KakaoTalk, and others. This introduction of simple authentication became possible as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety recently developed a simplified private authentication and electronic signature environment and widely expanded the 'Simple Authentication Service' to the public sector.
Until now, the traffic violation enforcement inquiry service could only be logged into using the 'Financial Certificate' provided by the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, so users could not use the inquiry service without issuing a certificate. However, from now on, users will be able to conveniently check and pay unpaid fines anytime and anywhere via the internet.
In particular, Seoul will provide login services for seven private-issued certificates, allowing users to choose their preferred social media or financial institution for simple authentication, including ▲Kakao ▲KB Kookmin Bank ▲Payco ▲Telecom PASS ▲Samsung PASS ▲Naver ▲Shinhan Bank.
The traffic violation enforcement inquiry service provides imposition and payment services for ▲illegal parking fines ▲bus and bicycle lane violation fines occurring throughout Seoul, and also offers fine inquiry services for vehicle periodic inspections, automobile tax, compulsory insurance, and vehicle license plate seizure. Civil complaint services such as statements or objections regarding fines for exclusive lanes and illegal parking violations are also available.

Baek Ho, Director of Urban Transportation at Seoul City, said, "With the simplified login method for the enforcement inquiry service, which was inconvenient to use before, citizens can now more easily check traffic violation enforcement status and pay fines," adding, "We will continue to carefully review services provided in the transportation sector and actively improve any inconveniences discovered."
