President Yoon and Spouse Vote in Itaewon on First Day of June 1 Local Election Early Voting
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife cast their votes at the Itaewon 1-dong Community Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, during lunchtime on the first day of early voting for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections on the 27th.
The President and First Lady arrived at the Itaewon 1-dong early voting station, located in the Yongsan District Council building, at around 12:07 p.m. It is reported that the early voting location was chosen considering President Yoon’s commute to the Yongsan Presidential Office and First Lady Kim Geon-hee’s route from their home in Seocho-dong.
President Yoon wore a neat black suit with a white dress shirt and a gray tie, while Mrs. Kim appeared with her calm short hair down, dressed in a plain white short-sleeved blouse and wide-legged black pants.
As residents of Seocho-gu, Seoul, the couple received guidance on “out-of-district voting” and lined up. After presenting their identification cards, they lowered their masks for identity verification and received their ballots.
After listening to the early voting instructions, President Yoon asked, “Do I put all seven ballots in this (envelope)?” Mrs. Kim, standing beside him, also asked, “Do we put them all in here?”
Both President Yoon and Mrs. Kim completed their voting in separate booths and then left the venue.
