Suwon Mayor Candidate Lee Jae-jun "Expanding Suwon Pay Support to Revitalize Traditional Markets"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jun, candidate for mayor of Suwon, announced that he will expand the support scale for Suwon Pay to revitalize traditional markets and fully cover the payment fees.
On the 24th, Lee attended a merchants' association discussion held at the 2nd-floor auditorium of Yeongdong Market in Suwon, where he shared opinions on coexistence measures related to the opening of Starfield, revitalization and support plans for traditional markets, and coexistence measures related to the restoration of Paldalmun Fortress Wall.
Lee first promised, "We will expand the support scale for Suwon Pay, a local currency, and fully support the payment fees for merchants using Suwon Pay."
He added, "We are also considering coexistence measures due to the opening of Starfield," and "We are reviewing a plan to pay part of Starfield employees' salaries in local currency to be used in traditional markets."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "Based on the compensation amount for losses determined through a commercial district impact assessment, Suwon City will independently conduct a service to scientifically calculate the compensation scale and actively negotiate with Starfield."
Regarding the 22 traditional markets in Suwon, he proposed a plan to expand and reorganize the existing market manager project to create a 'Traditional Market Development Council' involving market presidents, market managers, and related departments.

Lee said, "My mother used to sell vegetables, so I understand the hearts of traditional market merchants better than anyone else," and added, "I will continuously meet with merchants, listen to their opinions, and reflect them to support all merchants in Suwon City so that they can do business with a bright smile and peace of mind."
