Orion Donates 500 Million KRW Social Contribution Fund to Jeju Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Orion Group announced on the 25th that it donated 300 million KRW to institutions and organizations in Jeju to promote mutual growth and regional development in the Jeju area.
Orion Group donated 100 million KRW and 40 million KRW respectively to Gujwa-eup and Seongsan-eup through the Jeju Community Chest of Korea. The donations will be used to support various groups in the region, including children, the elderly, and migrant women. A fund was also provided to Yehyangwon, a child welfare facility in Hallim-eup, to improve the educational environment for children.
Scholarships were granted to the ‘Link Plus Project Capstone Design,’ an industry-academia cooperation education program between Jeju National University and Halla University, as well as to the ‘Jeju National University Graduate School of Groundwater,’ established for water resource research and conservation. Funds were also donated to the Jeju Society, a nonprofit organization, and the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations to promote academic and artistic activities in Jeju. Next month, an additional 200 million KRW will be provided to revitalize the Yongam Seawater Industrial Complex.
Orion Holdings signed a mutual growth agreement with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in May 2020 to promote regional economic development and activate the Yongam Seawater Industrial Complex, and last year supported a social contribution fund of 500 million KRW. Orion positions its beverage business as a key new growth area and sells ‘Dr. You Jeju Yongam Water,’ made using mineral-rich Jeju lava seawater as the source water.

An Orion Group official stated, "We will continue various social contribution activities together with local specialized institutions to further spread Jeju’s unique social, natural, and historical values," adding, "Through Dr. You Jeju Yongam Water, we will contribute to the promotion of manufacturing and revitalization of the local economy, and actively lead efforts to promote Jeju’s clean image overseas."
