[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] U.S. President Joe Biden arrived at Osan Air Base, home to the U.S. Air Force in South Korea, at 5:22 PM on the 20th aboard Air Force One, the presidential aircraft. Choosing South Korea as his first stop on his inaugural Asia tour, President Biden will hold a summit focused on three main agendas: the South Korea-U.S. joint response strategy to North Korean provocations, economic security cooperation measures, and South Korea's contributions to international issues.
First, during his visit to the Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek on the 20th, he is expected to deliver a message about the technology alliance. There is strong anticipation that he will mention specific plans to create synergy through the world-class semiconductor design and manufacturing technologies possessed by both the U.S. and South Korea, in addition to cooperation on global supply chains and economic security.
On the 21st, he will hold a summit with President Yoon Suk-yeol at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul, to discuss key agenda items. On the final day, as part of his security-related activities, he is reportedly considering a visit to the Air Force Operations Command (Gongjaksa) Aerospace Operations Center (KAOC), which commands air operations across the Korean Peninsula.
