Gwangyang Police Conduct Voice Phishing Prevention Training for Village Chiefs
Introducing Examples of Financial Fraud Techniques, Guidance on Prevention and Alternative Methods
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] On the morning of the 9th, the Gwangyang Police Station in Jeonnam visited the Gwangyang-eup Office and conducted an education session for village chiefs to prevent telephone financial fraud.
This education was prepared to reduce the damage to village residents vulnerable to financial fraud, as recent voice phishing crimes have become more sophisticated and diversified.
On that day, Seon Ju-sang, head of the Intelligent Crime Investigation Team in charge of the education, introduced examples of financial fraud methods such as low-interest refinancing loan scams, which have been frequently causing damage recently, using promotional videos, and urged caution by guiding prevention and alternative methods.
Ko Jae-yul, Secretary General of the Gwangyang-eup Village Chiefs Association, said, "There is a saying that you cannot understand why people fall victim unless you experience it yourself. After hearing about the damage cases at the police station today, I really thought that people cannot help but fall victim. I will actively promote damage prevention to the residents of our village."
