Hyundai Motor PR Ambassador David de Rothschild Gives Special Lecture to Employees
David de Rothschild, founder and CEO of the environmental charity Voice for Nature. He is a British explorer and a member of the Rothschild banking family.
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] David de Rothschild, founder of the environmental charity ‘Voice for Nature’ and a member of the British financial Rothschild family, gave a lecture to Hyundai Motor Company employees on the theme of ‘Nature and Corporate Citizenship’ on the 12th. He began his relationship with the company by hosting the Hyundai Motor eco-friendly car Ioniq new model launch event at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Since 2020, he has served as a global brand ambassador for Hyundai Motor as its sustainability ambassador.
In his lecture, Representative Rothschild emphasized awareness of environmental pollution, the importance of sustainable mobility, and its future impact. He said, “Until now, the partnership with Hyundai Motor has focused on raising awareness about the Earth and environmental pollution, but going forward, we plan to focus on jointly realizing Hyundai Motor’s future direction of seeking sustainable transportation and exerting a positive influence.” He added, “Through sincere conversations with the employees I met today, I caught a glimpse of a bright future for Hyundai Motor’s eco-friendly mobility for the Earth.”
He is active as an environmental activist and explorer. He has sailed on a boat applying plastic recycling technology and crossed rivers in Brazil in protest against dam construction. While working as a Hyundai Motor ambassador, he has participated in finding solutions to environmental problems and also played a role in encouraging the company to prioritize nature in its activities.

About 50 employees attended the event on a first-come, first-served basis to listen to the lecture and participate in discussions. For employees who could not attend in person, the company decided to upload the lecture content online. During his visit to Korea, Representative Rothschild toured the company’s carbon reduction and eco-friendly mobility development sites and, considering the healthy Earth’s climate and environment, agreed to discuss embedding sustainable values in future transportation, the company said.
