Kim Sung-han, the nominee for Director of the National Security Office, stated in a press release distributed to the media on the same day, "With the inauguration of the new government, we will reassess the overall North Korean nuclear missile threat," expressing this commitment.
Kim first informed, "Today at 2:07 PM, North Korea launched one SLBM from the southern waters near Sinpo towards the East Sea."
He added, "The newly established Crisis Management Center, located underground in the existing Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building, monitored the North Korean SLBM launch situation, which violates United Nations Security Council resolutions, in real time and shared information with key security officials of the new government."
This SLBM launch by North Korea comes just three days after the launch of a ballistic missile, presumed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), from the Sunan area in Pyongyang towards the East Sea at 12:03 PM on the 4th, marking the 15th military provocation publicly revealed this year. North Korea also launched an SLBM in October last year.
