[Asia Economy, Hwang Sumi] Yoojung of Brave Girls confessed to experiencing aftereffects from extreme dieting in the past.
On the first episode of the KBS2TV variety show "Bbaegopa," which aired on April 30, main MC Kim Shinyoung, along with Yoojung, Ha Jaesook, Bae Yoonjung, Go Eunah, Kim Juyeon (Iljueoteo), and Park Moonchi, appeared and shared their own dieting experiences.
During the show, Bae Yoonjung asked Yoojung, "You look thin, so why are you here?" Yoojung replied, "My weight fluctuates a lot. At my heaviest, I was 58kg."
The other cast members were surprised by her unexpected answer. Iljueoteo said, "My dream weight is 70kg," while Ha Jaesook added, "I'm 80kg. 58kg? Are you kidding me? That's infuriating," making everyone burst into laughter.
Yoojung also revealed the aftereffects she suffered from extreme dieting, drawing sympathy from those around her. She said, "Before our resurgence in popularity, I had given up on myself. I thought, 'If I'm not going to be a singer, is there any point in maintaining my figure?' But then, all of a sudden, we made a comeback."
Yoojung continued, "I've tried every diet imaginable. I would weigh myself after going to the bathroom and didn't even want to drink water. I starved myself completely." She went on, "One morning, I woke up and my whole body was covered in blood. My immune system had collapsed, so I scratched myself in my sleep. When I went to the hospital, they told me that if I caught a cold in that state, I could die. I was 26 years old at the time. Still, I had no choice but to keep dieting," shocking everyone.
