[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Nayeon] Around 12:20 AM on the 24th, a fire broke out on the 12th floor of an apartment in Suyeong-gu, Busan, resulting in one death and one person suffering burns.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene extinguished the fire and rescued A (11) and his mother B (45), but A, who inhaled a large amount of smoke, died at the hospital. B sustained second-degree burns on her face and other areas.
The fire, which started in the living room, burned household goods over an area of 40㎡ and was extinguished within about 30 minutes. Approximately 50 neighboring residents evacuated urgently upon hearing the fire news, preventing further casualties.
