On the 22nd, Kyodo News reported, citing multiple sources, that Prime Minister Kishida is coordinating to meet with the policy consultation team dispatched by President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol.
According to the media, Prime Minister Kishida wants to directly confirm the direction of improving Korea-Japan relations under the next administration, the Yoon Suk-yeol government.
The main agenda of the meeting is expected to be the historical issues between Korea and Japan.

The consultation team dispatched by President-elect Yoon to Japan is led by Jung Jin-seok, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and co-chair of the Korea-Japan Parliamentary Diplomacy Forum, and consists of Kim Seok-ki, member of the People Power Party (deputy leader and secretary-general of the Korea-Japan Parliamentary League), Yoon Deok-min, former president of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, Park Cheol-hee, professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies (special advisor for foreign affairs and security at the Presidential Transition Committee), Lee Sang-duk, former ambassador to Singapore, Jang Ho-jin, former ambassador to Cambodia, and Woo Jeong-yeop, research fellow at the Sejong Institute.
They are pursuing meetings not only with Prime Minister Kishida but also with former Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and Yoshihide Suga.
